We are also playing our part for equal rights. She expressed these views while addressing a two-day workshop on "Role of Parliamentarians in Ensuring Gender Equality through Implementation" organized by "Aurat Foundation" at a local hotel in Karachi.  Leaders and members of Sindh Assembly of various political parties were also present on the occasion.  "There are a lot of problems in our society. We work hard to legislate. However, it has been observed that many times the people concerned do not know the law, which leads to poor enforcement of the law," she said. She said that it is unfortunate when such observations come to light, especially the FIR writers are not aware of the laws related to domestic violence and as a result the victims are deprived of transparent and complete justice due to wrong provisions.
She said that the institutions should also make their people fully aware of any relevant legislation and ensure implementation of the law. She said that NGOs were playing a vital role in providing maximum awareness to the people.
